Every day, the volume of data—from audio and video to electronic health records, browsing habits, and shopping preferences—grows exponentially. This surge in data has led to a heightened demand within the industry for engineers who are skilled in extracting meaningful insights from such data to drive advancements in technology and enhance societal well-being. However, the current pool of qualified data scientists falls short of meeting this demand. To address this gap, the Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering - Machine Learning and Data Science program offers students comprehensive and focused training in the theory, methodologies, and applications of data science, machine learning, and signal and information processing.
To complete the M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering – Machine Learning and Data Science degree, students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Minimum Units: A total of 28 units are required.
- Digital Signal Processing Requirement: Students must either pass a digital signal processing test or enroll in EE 483 – Introduction to Digital Signal Processing as a technical elective, which counts for 3 units.
- Required Courses: Students must complete 18-20 units of required coursework.
- Electrical Engineering Courses: At least 16 units must be taken within the Electrical Engineering department.
- GPA Requirement: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is necessary for graduation.
- Technical Electives: A maximum of 4 units from Directed Research (EE 590) or Thesis work (EE 594ab) can be counted towards technical electives.
- Tuition fees USD $2,075 per unit
- Start date January 2025
